Shakur Stevenson Leaves Zuffa Boxing to Launch His Own Promotional Company

Undefeated boxing star Shakur Stevenson is taking control of his career after officially parting ways with Zuffa Boxing and announcing plans to launch his own promotional company.

Stevenson’s departure comes just three months after signing with the promotion led by UFC chief executive Dana White and Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh. The American fighter revealed that he requested his release after spending eight weeks in training camp preparing for fights that ultimately failed to materialise. His request was granted over the weekend.

The 29-year-old, who holds a perfect professional record of 25 wins and is the reigning WBO super lightweight champion, is now looking to take greater control of his future and secure the biggest fights available.

Among the potential matchups that failed to materialise were negotiations for a high-profile showdown with Devin Haney, with disagreements over the proposed weight limit contributing to the collapse of talks.

Stevenson insists there is no personal animosity behind his decision and remains open to working with other promoters who can help deliver the fights he wants.

For now, his focus remains on competing at 135 and 140 pounds, with a move up to welterweight at 147 pounds potentially coming in the next year or two.

With his own promotional company on the horizon, Stevenson is entering a new chapter in his career. The big question now is whether taking control of his own business will help him land the blockbuster fights boxing fans have been waiting to see.
